Help with Food
Foodshare: Mobile Foodshare is a food-pantry on wheels. Contact them for more information: (860) 856-4321 or click the button above. Local Pickup sites include Willington, Mansfield, and Stafford.
Senior Center Frozen Meals: The senior center offers three frozen meals a week thru their congregate program. The criteria is that you are 60 or older or the spouse of someone 60 and over participating, and that you arrange to pick up the food. There is no income or asset test. The meals come with milk, bread, and fruit. Kit needs to know by noon on Monday that you want the meals. Suggested donation of $3.00 each meal. Pay less if you can afford less, pay more if you can afford more. The donation is anonymous. 860-487-5122 to sign up.
Ashford Food Program: The Ashford Food Program distributes canned and dried foods on the first Friday of the month at the Pompey Hollow Senior Housing building. For applications or information, please call Donna Dysart at (860) 461-9434 or email communityconsulting92@charter.net.
Food Pantry: Storrs Congregational Church, located at 2 North Eagleville Rd, Storrs, has a food pantry. By appointment only, Sunday 11-12:30, Monday 1-3, and Thursday 2":30-6:30. Call 860-429-9382. They offer meats, breads, fresh produce, and household items.
WAIM Clothing: Open Tuesday-Saturday 9am-Noon. Shoppers are limited to 15 minutes of “shopping.” By appointment only, call Neenah Shafer (860-456-7270 ext. 104.
